Here is a simple and economic way to enjoy blueberries all year long. It makes much the same way as a can of tomatoes.
Fill with blueberries cleaned and sterilized mason jars washed by adding to each others 2 tablespoons sugar. Although packed with the masher because fruits lose volume during cooking. Place the lids loosely. Place jars in a canner filled with boiling water and boil for 45 minutes. Keep in a cool, dry place.
This replaces the canned jam, it can be used on cereal, toast, a cheese cake, etc..
